ROTC
Okay, so as I am told my dear old man started a little chat about my ROTC stuff. However i must dignify a little, im not going to be a leg and have a lame job too. Leg yes, theres no denying that, however if they opened up ranger school to women id be the first one in line. I will however avoid at all cost lame jobs, Im hoping to branch Aviation, MI or MP. Now that i have that off my chest i was wondering if anyone had some advice for basic. Because I am actually doing the SMP program so ill be enlisting as an E3 then signing my contract to be commissioned. At least ill be an O with some enlisted perspectives. Anyways, any advice or recomendations is really appriciated and welcomed.

Can't you get airborne school in your contract too, or will you wait until after you commission to get/request that?sillyboysgunsareforgirls wrote:Okay, so as I am told my dear old man started a little chat about my ROTC stuff. Can't get Airborne and SMP together.
For the reserve components you have to get hooked up with an Airborne unit to get the school anyway.
Good luck with the ROTC Thing. Your hubby only wants you to be the best Soldier and O-type you can be. They should have no problem sending you to Jump school as a cadet.
Anyway, I say go Aviation or MP. Anything else as a woman and you will be around all the fucking pogues you can handle. And probably puking every day from it.

What MS-Class are you?
From my experience with ROTC, most of the SMP Cadets were assigned to an MP unit, but that is probably because we have no high-speed units in Arizona.
The SMP Program seems like a good option from what was explained to me by the Cadre and will help you when it comes time to attend LDAC and you receive your final eval before they assign branches.
If your SMP I don't know if you can get Airborne, Air Assault, or Scuba, through Cadet Command, but the experience is ten-fold. I never seen any of the SMP Cadets getting school slots but then again everyone hated me because I was at the top of the OML for every school. I don't think they will give you any schools for an SMP Contract.
I'm sure you already know this, but the key to getting your branch is being in the top portion of your commissioning class. Make sure your cumulative GPA is high, like 3.5 or above to be competitive. Your MIS GPA needs to be a 4.0. Land Nav nabs a lot of people. Pass your APFT, the higher the score the better, and make sure you know FM 7-8.
At LDAC you do everything from the WARNO, sand table, issuing the OPORD, and then leading the actual patrol / assault. Ultimately the people in your squad are people your competing against, so square them away as much as possible. A lot of people at LDAC are ate up. My buddy who was prior-service 2nd Batt got buddy-fucked because his grader marked him down for "withholding his experience."
Disclaimer: I am only providing my knowledge from being in an ROTC program. I have absolutely no military experience.

ADA is being sliced under the restructuring of the Army. My CO is an ADA Officer who just got his walking papers to go to Signal Corps.SkyShark wrote:Good luck. SFC Hit_It, women are in ADA units now aren't they? That might be a job to look at as well. From what I understand there is a lot of field time.
I wouldn't expect too many 2LT's to get commissioned into this branch.

OK. Here we go.
It is possible to get into a branch other than your guard or reserve unit while doing SMP. I know a cadet in Utah that is in an FA unit but branched Aviation after LDAC.
Your class year will have a lot to do with whether or not you can attend a training school. Order of Merit List is huge, each program usually only gets 3 or 4 slots a year. Usually they are reserved for cadets during the summer after their MSII year. However, you could get lucky and pick one up after LDAC. There's airborne, air assault, mountain warfare, northern warfare, and robin sage available to cadets. If you start ROTC after your sophomore year you will have to attend LTC (Leadership Training Center) at Ft. Knox the summer before your junior year. Hope I'm not losing you.
The summer after your MSIII year you will attend the Leadership Development Assessment Course at Ft. Lewis. CTLT is Cadet Troop Leadership Training and slots are given away like training schools. To the top 2 or 3 cadets in each program.
Hope that all makes sense. Good luck with everything. I have some friends that are/were SMP and they had no complaints.

I know what Robin Sage is. Check your fucking sources. Us "meat-puppets" are the OPFOR during that phase.SunDevilWrestler wrote:Check your sources........Robin Sage is the Final Phase of SFQC.
The Army sure as fuck isn't putting any Cadet Command meat-puppets into Q Course.

That is news to me. Never heard of ROTC Cadets being optioned as OPFOR in Robin Sage.
Maybe a BTDT can come along and straighten this out. Until I see proof, I'm pressing the "bullshit" button.
Can anyone verify these claims?
