A sickening attitude

Post by Russo »

I wasn't 100% sure where to put this, but the swamp is pretty open so here I go:

Like any law-abiding young man of the United States, I registered with the Selective Service when I turned 18 years old. Now that many of my friends are also reaching that age, I reminded them that they should do so as well.

To my suprise (okay, maybe not) I was hit with "Why in the hell whould I do that? I don't wanna join the Army. Fuck the war in Iraq, and fuck George Bush."

What I'm getting at is I'm pretty let down by my generation's attitude to duty and country. Registering for the draft is not enlisting in the military. Way too many of today's young people simply lack balls. Honestly, I'm kind of ashamed to be lumped in with an age group that (for the very most part) doesn't support it's country, it's president, or it's war.

I just had to get that off my chest. Thoughts, Rangers?

Although I strongly agree with Ranger Everett Ruess, I would ask these folks some questions. The first that comes to mind is why do they feel the way they do. Most likely 9 out of 10 times they won't be able to give you a straight anwser or it is bias information they heard from thier parents or the media. Try and educate them on facts. Fuck George Bush? Fuck the war in Iraq? Ask them why, show them the professional that you can be. Show them who is more educated. Then if that doesn't work, throat punch em as instructed by Ranger Everett Ruess. Good Luck
It's all good.

Most people my age here in Canada have that exact same attitude. It's disgusting. People take any chance they can get to shit on Bush, the war and Americans in general. I've silenced a fair few of them at least by simply knowing what I'm talking about.

SkyShark is exactly right. Most of them are talking out their ass about what they heard from some liberal news source or from their parents. As SkyShark said, ask them why they feel that way. That is what I did. Listen to their 'argument', then counterpoint with facts. This is usually the part where they sit in silence before saying "... Bush is still an idiot." I find it highly amusing.

I hear what you are saying, Russo. I find that most kids my age respect military service but there are alot of pussy's. I know this one kid who is technically an english citizen but has lived in america his entire life and is completely americanized; he is now qualified to get his citizenship but wont. I asked him why not and his sole reason is because "I dont want to get drafted"

Talk about a fucking pussy; a fucking free-loader who seems to find no problem in using america for an education and a safe place to live yet refuses to become a citizen in the country he has lived in his whole life and probably the rest of it because of the extremely remote possiblity of him being drafted. God forbid he should ever have to give something back to this country.

He even has the audacity to complain about the re-election of Bush yet refuses to become eligible to vote.

Attitudes like this are extremely common on my campus, everyone thinks theyre fucking entitled to everything and how dare the government should ask for anything in return.

If you ask most kids my age they'll tell you they'd go to canada or jail before going to war, I shit you not.

This is what happens when a society frowns upon the use of bludgeoning as positive reinforcement of a conversational point of view.

SkyShark makes a good point here. Challenge them to reinforce their ad hominem attacks and fallacious reasoning. Most of those kids are simply regurgitating what their hippy parents tell them or what the youth of america tells them is "popular" at the time. A sad lot they are.

Pretty much any college campus in this great state of ours. Especially the state schools though. I attend a private Christian College in Greene County, and it has some very liberal leanings (more pacifistic than anything, nice people, their views on "war" and "conflict" just aren't grounded in reality unfortunately). The state schools on the other hand, are a whole 'nother story when it comes to liberal marxist indoctrination.

The sad thing is, the dissenting viewpoint of Russo's friends will only be reinforced in their minds when they go off to college. The left has a stanglehold on the Academia currently, and I dont see it changing in the future. :(

Remind your friends that on 9/11/01 the war on terrorism was a "Home Game" for us, and brought to our country. Now we have taken the war on terrorism to an "Away Game" and fight it at its very roots. I for one like it that way, and hope that it continues in a manner to prohibit further "Home Games"

By using the term game I am not implying that war is a game, it is very serious. It is merely a figure of speech.

I'm glad someone finally pointed that out. And the eloquence with which it was stated. Like telling someone to go to hell and actually have them anticipate the trip. Keep pushing boys.
