RIP QUESTION?

Post by undergoodcanopy »

I have been mentoring the son, of a family friend while he is going through the process of "attempting" to become a Ranger.
I received calls periodically to update me on his status.(from the soldier)
I believed the young stud to be squared-away?
Therefore when he informed me that he had a pt test coming up,
I thought no problem, he will smoke it.
Then I sit back and waited to receive a call that he had "successfully passed the pt test.
But what I got instead was a call telling me he had been kicked out, for over-sleeping and missing a formation!
Which,if true definetly warrants being removed from RIP.
It seemed a lttle to convient for me, that he has been making formations for the last 3-4 months.
And he misses one in the most important step in becoming a Ranger (except Ranger School itself of course).
Im not sure, but maybe someone who has recently graduated from RIP or instructor can ease my curiousity, does this sound like a situation that could happen?
Are do we just have a trooper to embarrassed to tell his family he failed to do the required number of push-ups?

That's a hard call. All the quitters have great excuses.

Oversleeping seems a little far fetched. It's almost impossible to oversleep in the barracks.

Either way he failed. I have known them to MISS formation somewhat intentionally.

It's possible but highly unlikely. The cadre take roll call before the PT test. Even if he was late for formation someone would go get his ass make him take the PT test and then kick him out for being late.

Thanks for the feedback.
That is pretty much what I thought.
He also told me, that he asked his "buddies" to get him up?
As we all know Blue Falcon is always out there lurking!
Oh well, lesson learned I guess?!

His room mates slipped out on him with out slamming a wall locker, or turning the lights on. NONE of the RIP cadre so much as raised their voices that morning in the hall way?

 What do you think?

I thought it was bullshit when I first read this post at the beginning of the weekend. Then sometime on saturday, I was talking to one of my WW friends who said someone got dropped for missing final formation @2040. He DID pass his PT test but the class leader reported him missing because he was sleeping.

Missing morning formation is damn near impossible with all the activity but final formation is more plausible, as everyone leaves the barracks when you get off your detail (usually around 1400-1600). No excuse but still. PM to confirm the last name?

SFC hit_it, in the morning you go on detail and whenever you are released from it, you're free for the rest of the day. You can get off as early as 1300 all the way to 1830 or so depending on what you get. Once you're released, you're free to do whatever you want until recall formation @ 2040. He slept and missed the formation, so not to standard.
