Heading Out

Post by MicSierra »

Well my day has finally come and I begin my journey tomorrow. I wish I could personally thank every single Ranger, DEP, Veteran, etc for their advice and time, but of course the list would be endless.

I will push on through the hard times, but regardless what happens I will know that I am a member of the United States Army, defending the greatest nation on Earth.

Thank you,

Mike

Long story short...

I received some personal news at OSUT a couple months back, probably 3 or 4 weeks before graduation that made me decide to drop my RIP/ARBN contract and 'go to the needs of the Army.'

Now, and luckily, I'm stationed at Ft. Lewis with 2nd Cavalry Regiment. Lewis is really close to home and will allow me to take care of some personal stuff so that sometime in the future if I have the opportunity I'll go to RIP.

I've only been at 2CR for about 3 weeks and it's a complete melting pot of cluster fuck right now with the unit moving from Ft. Polk, but I'm proud to be a part of the unit. We're told we'll have quite a bit of time to train before deployment since it's a slow process of getting everything organized but I'll always be ready for the unexpected.

If I am not mistaken when you graduate RIP they give you the option of what Battalion you want. If this is still in effect, why didn't you fulfill your contract then go to Lewis anyway???? However, even if you didn't have the option, there are ways to get a duty station for Family needs. I don't think you thought everything through when you made your decisions, o you didn't ask the right questions to the right people. Something doesn't smell good here.
