interval training has always produced the best results for me, run speed intervals, get your two mile time at least down somewhere into the 13's and be able to run five miles in under 40 minutes.

as for pushups, situps and pullups, do timed sets. do intervals 3 times a week and pushups, situps and pullups twice a week ON TOP of whatever your unit does for PT and you should be fine.

pushing away from the table and not going for seconds for dinner helps out too.
