I joined the military in Feb of 2000 with a Ranger contract, did basic, airborne then RIP, I got to 1st batt in humid but nice HAAF in SAV, GA in I believe about the beginning of SEP. '00. I got there on a Friday from Stewart, and stayed in 1st platoon for the weekend on monday I was upto see SFC J@#$S in his office with two squad leaders who will remain nameless. unless asked privately by a verified Ranger. They picked which guys they wanted and we where shown our new rooms. That same day they left for traning in polk, oh yeah the box. I was lucky enough to have two weeks to acclimate myself to the battalion life. Long story short I get smoked, smoked some more then I fly this way over the pond, I fly that way, I get drunk, I get laid, eventually I get married, I get smoked again but now for fun instead of stupidity on my behalf. I get ready to ETS and find out I am still Stupid, (has to do with the Quickrete quote). Miss you guys give them bastards hell. Tell 1SG J@#$S (yep, used to be my PSG) I got some green chems, and a cot for any of you bastards who are in the area. Except the 'Snod' fine he can stop in too.

I was scanning thru the web and found this forum I have been to the sight before, but never thought of registering anyhow. Thanks to everyone who is still there in battalion and those on their way.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

That is the problem with 3rd bat something is always inside, I am sorry I should wait until I am verfied. How do you guys feel about names being, for example if I said hey do you know Ranger BLAH BLAH he used to be at 3rd batt, or do you guys prefer private messages for that. I know OPSEC is a big thing now and always and that is my main concern on mentioning names and so forth without proper security, if i am a jack off let me know. If not then maybe somebody from 3rd batt can tell whom i am talking about just buy the story. He jumped off the catwalk on the shoot house out there in Benning and messed him self up, he eventually healed but never lost the rep. This was a few years back now. He has since served as my 1sg among other things at 1st Battalion Let me know. How long does verification take?

Thanks for the warm welcoming.

Just to make something clear as you can tell by my 1st message I never went to ranger school so that 00-04 is my years in. To many knee surgeries and OEF-OIF. I can tell you it is a hard decision to make go to school or go fight wit your brothers. I think I made the right one, I do wish I could have gone to school but I was never worried about not making it through. Jusdt something I do wish I did. If squirrel nuts made it. SHHHHHHIIIITTTT

We prefer to maintain PERSEC. We don't want personal names in the public forums. Save that stuff for PMs and private rooms.

I haven't received your response to my welcome packet yet. When I do, it will be inspected by the Rangers on this board. If you check out, it could be as fast as 30 minutes or as slow as a month. It all depends on how far we have to go to get you verified. Hope this answered your questions.

The more detailed the response, the easier it is for others to decide and the faster it gets done.
