No APFT this week, I am taking a recovery week off training as part of my transition from lifting heavy with compound barbell movements to doing mostly calisthenics and endurance. I think I have a good strength base thus far. It is driving me crazy not to be training... I can't wait to hit it hard on Monday.

It has been a good month of May. Mentee Arch51 and I have now met up a total of 4 times, twice this past month. Once at an air show, and also over Memorial Day weekend for a solid PT session at the beach.

Being just shy of 3 months out from my ship date, it's slowly starting to become surreal that this is actually happening. I am so ready to begin this new life in the Army. Supposed to be getting a new guy next week at my current job that I'll have the opportunity to train and will have him squared away by the time I leave.

I'm enjoying Ranger IntelToad's map reading class thus far with the help of Ranger fatboy. College may be put on hold for me for a little while, but I think it is awesome that they are doing this for us mentees. It's not only allowing us to go into the pipeline with a leg up, but also a way to keep us occupied on Ranger knowledge and such when we aren't working out.
There are many people here that want you graduate RASP an go on to do great things and serve in the Ranger Regiment.

I graduated from RIP in 1985, about 32 years ago. There were no websites, no information- after I graduated from airborne school, I was put into a UHaul rental truck and driven to RIP at the top of Cardiac Hill. Years later I saw the same UHaul every time we jumped transporting chutes to Lawson. I always wondered if it was stolen.

If you want it, get it, make it happen.

I find it rewarding to watch the mentees prepare themselves for IET, BAC, and RASP. Please remember to post a SITREP in the letters from school thread before you ship. Never, never quit!

SITREP20170701
Unable to conduct a PT test today. The facility that I use was closed all of a sudden. I will have one early this coming week.

Enjoying my last 2 months before I ship off. As I mentioned in my latest task list post, I am still continuing to get together with a few mentees from this site. I think Arch51 and I have met up at least 5 or 6 occasions now. Also met up with Ranger Disinfertention, which was just awesome. I've had a great time getting to know the other mentees as well.

I've had my trainee at work for about 3 weeks now. We actually turned him loose last week to head out on his own into the field, and he has done exceptionally well so far. It's definitely been a confidence booster for me. I don't want to leave a single stone unturned when I depart from my job. It's been a big part of my life for the past four years. July is shaping up to be a busy month.

Recently picked up the Ranger Handbook and have been skimming through it here and there. It is very thorough to say the least, and there's a bit of knowledge I'd like to absorb from it before I leave just to have even the slightest advantage. I'm ready to hit the ground running on my Army career. The date is approaching quickly.

SITREP: July has been a great month. I've made progress physically as well as mentally. Running/endurance has never been a strongpoint of mine, so to see real improvement in that area is nice. Still need more work to achieve that 300+ score. Went for a ruck march and did some shooting at a local range last weekend with Arch51. He's a great guy, very motivated and humble. Spent most of last week in the Appalachian Mountains for a quick vacation with my family and did some camping as well. Almost 30 days out from shipping, I'm excited. Will have my task list completed very soon.
