Introduction - Ambrose26

Post by Ambrose26 »

Hello Rangers,

My name is Ambrose, I am a 17 year old senior. I am 5/11 at 182 lbs. I scored an 82 on my ASVAB, and I am already enlisted into the United States Army with a 13 Foxtrot option 40. I ship out for basic training on August 1, 2017. My hobbies include hunting/shooting, reading, exercising, and nutrition. I have currently read; The Art of War, Violence of Action, On Killing, Black Hawk Down, Unbeatable Mind, The Official U.S Army Tactics Field Manual, Ranger Knowledge, and the Ranger handbook. I plan to continue reading and learning as much as possible. I am good on PT, but my running, and endurance needs improvement. I'm currently studying FIST knowledge like the 15 subsequent corrections. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Ambrose

Hello Rangers, my PT scores are as follow
Push Ups 68
sit ups 65
run 14:38
Pull ups 12 pronated grip (unless you think I should do chin ups instead)
I have a backround in weightlifting and am more of a pack mule than a cheetah. I am working to change that by adding in more running, and functional movement. I have no doubt I will have my PT maxed by the time I ship.

Welcome here. The search button is your friend as there is 15 years of information on this site.

You have just over 5 months to put yourself in the best position possible to find success. Set goals and don't piss off your time completely.

And have fun... you're still a kid.

I have been reading through the forums Ranger Jim, but I have yet to find a task list that was assigned by a Ranger. Would it be best to do the task list as I approach the new topics in the thread or should I copy the questions from someone else and then proceed to research them without going through the entire forum?

Dylan - Take a little initiative here. What do you think the best course of action is? There will not always be orders and sometimes those orders leave room for interpretation. Make sure your decision is morally correct, legally correct, and ethically correct. Drive on, do good things.

Ranger Jim - Let him flail a bit and come to his own conclusion. I know you will anyway :)

Dylan, Glad to see that you finally posted a task-list. Now, lets see you get to work on it. All the tasks are from our members who have told us about things that they experience in RASP. Never, never quit!

Roger Ranger Jim. Some of the mentees told me that I wouldn't be able to just put an "X" by all of them (which is also my way of showing completion). I was wondering if you wanted a synopsis of the straight forward tasks like the 25 + 1 push-ups? I understand that I need an explanation for most, but the smaller tasks like push-ups I didn't think required one. If this isn't the case then I will go back and revise the tasks I had previously only put an "X" by.

Ambrose. Maybe you missed my point in my post earlier.

Add read "A Message to Garcia" to your task list. Then tell me why I told you to read it.

Sitrep 2017/04/01

PT
Push ups 70
sit ups 68
Run 14:20
Chin ups 12

I have been doing PT seven days a week and have noticed improvements in my Push ups and sit ups, but my running is still sucking. If I run a six minute mile pace I notice that my legs start to fatigue quickly, and I can't maintain it for the full duration. I just need to run more, and have to focus on my deficiency.
