For those who don't have high levels of geek in their blood - Waze is owned by Google.

I've had a rental car GPS try to kill me on more than one occasion. Arrived in Tampa late one evening and that Neverlost bullshit drove me straight in to the 'hood. Fortunately the local hoodrats were already inebriated beyond caring. Not quite Palestine, but it's all about perspective...

You laugh about Google Maps, but I actually had to use them for mapping on a Battalion obective because their imagery was better and more current then what I could get from higher. I was able to zoom in on my platoons sector, throw on an overlay for grid references and make copies for my guys.
The government should hire them for imagery for some of the lesser traveled spots in the world.
