A few questions

Post by mueller7809 »

Hello Rangers.

My "nickname" is Tom. I am currently in the Delayed Entry Program with a 15W MOS. Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operator. I took the ASVAB and I got a 84, so I qualify for everything that I am signed up for. I tried to sign up for 11B with option 40 but the best my recruiter could do was 15W with option 40. From what I've heard it is not a bad MOS to have at all. Every Wednesday I meet with my Recruiters and other recruits to do some pre-BCT PT. So far I have passed the 1-1-1. My Current stats are a 8:09 mile, 40 pushups, and 24 sit ups. I do not leave until the end of February, so I have some time to further my limits.

I have done a good amount of research on what is expected of me through BCT, AIT, and Airborne school, however RASP I is still pretty unknown. Assuming that I make it through, what am I to expect once I get assigned to a battalion? I don't even think that I will be assigned to 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, but perhaps Special Troops Battalion. What exactly will my role be once I am in? I want to think that I will be on the ground alongside other infantrymen with a mobile UAV preforming reconnaissance for them, telling them the safest routes, etc. The other part of me thinks that I will be stuck in an air conditioned box far away from the field controlling a UAV. Does anybody have any experience with my MOS or know anyone that can provide their thoughts/experiences to me?

Thanks a lot,
Tom

Welcome, Tom, Your initial entry should be an introduction, so I am moving this to the correct thread. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We at armyranger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. You have established a PT baseline to build on, so we look forward to your improving your APFT scores. Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top right of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. Please confirm that you have an Option 40, and indicate your report date. Never, never quit!

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread. I assumed that armyranger.com knew a great deal about the process of becoming a Ranger, and it is safe to say that I was correct. I have read some of the FAQs, however the search option is still somewhat tricky to me. I have found a thread about a fellow 15W with Option 40, but he was lambasted for not following the rules. I am somewhat familiar with what a UAV operator does, and I do know how to utilize google. However, I will try to figure out the search feature so I can find more information.
I do have Option 40 in my contract. I ship off 20150222.

My apologies. I meant. 20160222. Working at U-Haul has me writing 2015 constantly. I tried to use the search feature again. I am not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but I try to type 15W/UAV/UAS/Option 40 and I get results for my post and posts that are only about option 40.

1. Check your PM now!

2. Suggest you contact BmanG7 , he is currently in 15W training. He also has an Option 40.
