Things are progressing smoothly. I will most likely be enlisted in late summer. An option 4 or 40 will be almost impossible to get with my injury. I hope to prove myself in the "Big Army" and then maybe gen a shot at RASP or SF after a few years. If I can't get an Army contract because of being disqualified, then I will shoot for the Marine Corps.

I hope this all goes as planned, and goes smoothly. This has been a very very long process to get to this point. Once I turn 18 (May 19th) I will be going to MEPS. Lets see how all of this goes....I'm optimistic, but I am also very nervous that I will be disqualified.

I will most likely be getting a semester of college done, as well as working full time this summer. It will be tough, but something that I feel will prepare me better.

My parents won't sign off on anything, so I'm kind of stuck until I hit 18 on the enlistment process. I'll update all of you Rangers on how everything goes.

Here's the tricky part, I don't really have the money for it, but my parents want me to try out the local community college . I honestly just want to go and serve, but I guess a little bit of schooling wouldn't hurt (except the wallet lol).

I still have a lot of time to make a decision, I just want it to be the right one.

If I didn't clarify already, I am 100% going enlisted, not officer. I personally believe that in order to go from the academy or ROTC straight to an officer billet, one must be a natural leader and super squared away. I feel that I am not quite ready for that. Maybe in the future.

That is definitely not true. Research a bit about an Officer in the military. If it sounds like something you'd like to do peruse that. Don't rule something out this early.

In addition to, I have some good news. My brother's PL, in which he served with in Afghanistan, runs a recruiting station. He told my brother and I that he would go through hell and back to get me whatever job I would like, and whatever waivers I need. He is a straight shooter, and a really good guy. Hopefully, I have success with this recruiter.

I'm super thankful that my brother still has a lot of his connections with his old buddies that he deployed with.

That's great news Nathan. Just remember, it is your career when you come to pick it. Even if they are a friend... Sometimes you need to wait for what you want.

I just registered at my community college for both the summer and fall semesters. The fall semester ends in December. That should be plenty of time to fully prepare myself. I will get 25-30 credits when it is all said and done. I plan on going to MEPS in July, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Still have to discuss that with my recruiter.

I've made up my mind that I 100% want to be a Ranger. My recruiters said that it shouldn't be an issue getting a contract even with my injuries. If I can't, then I would settle with an option 4, but as a last resort.
