Hasan Sentenced To Death

Post by centermass »

Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist convicted in the November 2009 shooting rampage that left 13 dead and 31 wounded, was sentenced to death Wednesday by a military jury.

Prosecutors had sought the death penalty, saying Hasan's murderous rampage at the sprawling military base here left tragic and devastating loss for victims and loved ones.

Hasan, 42, was convicted last week on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 charges of attempted premeditated murder. He appeared expressionless upon hearing the verdict, which came less than two hours of deliberations.

The death sentence required a unanimous verdict by the jury of 13 military officers. At minimum, Hasan faced life imprisonment. Still, while Hasan could be the first serviceman executed by the military since 1961, the appellate process could take years.

Hanging would be the most appropriate since it's a most ignoble way to die in Islam.

If I had my way we'd hang in slow with tbe knot to the rear instead of the side.

But our Commander and Chief said it was just work place violence. Why would he get the death penalty for work place violence. I mean, I would understand if it were a terrorist act.

Those sentenced to death in the state of Utah are given a choice of execution methods....either hanging or firing squad. I think the Federal Government should look into doing the same thing.

And the Prosecutor put the lie to Obama's claim of "workplace violence" in his closing statement when he asked the jury not to convict on the basis of religion, even though Hassan admitted that he attacked his fellow soldiers for his religion, but because he'd forever damaged so many lives. so many lives.
