Introductions- Andrew

Post by Andrew N. »

Hello Rangers,

My name is Andrew, I am 19 years old, and I recently enlisted into the Active Army as an E3 with an 11x Option 4 contract. I will be finished with two years of college before I leave. I look forward to being a member on this site and learning more about Rangers.

The enlistment process went by relatively quick for me. I officially enlisted on March 20, 2014, and first stepped into the recruiting office one week and a half before that. Joining is something that I have wanted to do since I was a junior in high school but I decided that now was the time to make it happen.

Initially, all of my recruiters pretty much told me straight up that it would be impossible to attain an 11x Option 40 contract and that I should not get my hopes up at all. The next morning I asked them to check the system and an 11x contract with an airborne option popped up. Needless to say I jumped on it immediately. It wasn't an Option 40, but I took what I could. I was happy that I at least got Airborne in my contract. I have been asking my recruiters to check the systems for any Option 40's so I could update my contract if one was found, but they have not answered me. I plan to stand out in OSUT and Airborne and hopefully get the opportunity to volunteer for RASP.

I have learned so much from these forums in the past couple of weeks, and with this post I hope to gain more knowledge and inspiration to help me achieve my goal of becoming a United States Army Ranger. Thank you Rangers.
