Hello Ranger Jim. Another SITREP for you. I'm back from MEPS I just did the ASVAB (scored an 82), and full physical and airborne physical. I'm deemed "Qualified for Airborne Training", and the rest of the physical went well. I didn't sign anything yet because for some reason my recruiter said we weren't going to do it, but I think that works out since now they can tell me when they have 11x Option 40 available at their office, so that way they can save it and next time I go down to MEPS it'll be there for me and everything else is taken care of so I can just sign.

75 Push-ups in 2 min.
78 Sit-ups in 2 min.

Improved on pull-ups and push-ups, but I know my sit-ups and 2 mile were low Ranger Jim,I focused a lot on upperbody strength this week, I'll be sure to put more time in for cardio. Also, again, I told my recruiter I wanted 11x Option 40 and he asked if I would just take 11x, or if I would take another MOS with Option 40, and of course I set my mind to 11x Option 40. He told me he'll see what he can do about it, (but he still tried to get me to settle for just 11x and volunteer for Airborne and RASP when I'm in OSUT), but as you know Ranger Jim, I'm not signing ANYTHING unless it's 11x Option 40.

You may have a while to wait for an 11X option 40. Use your time to continue to get ready. Keep checking the board and I'll post up as soon as I start to see 11X with option 40. Keep in mind your recruiter has nothing to do with the 11X option 40 slots they are controlled by DA and DA hasn't released any new 11X option 40 slots.

As you may have seen on the recruitment process board there are now 11X option 40s on the system. I suggest you contact your recruiter 1st thing Monday. I posted the dates the training available so it should be pretty easy to get what you want.

Apologies, and thank you very much for the info. My recruiter wants to take me to MEPS on Tuesday to sign. Also, one quick question, I'm still a Junior in high school, are these 11x Option 40's only for people who have already graduated high school or will I be able to get one?

Boomer, the slots I was talking about are for high school grad or soon to be grads not 2014 grads. I'm not sure if 2014 11X option 40 has been loaded or not. Your meps counselor should call the Recruiting Operations Center (ROC) and try to get you a option 40. Be polite and just let them know you are not willing to enlist without it. I know at my meps my NCOIC will even call the ROC NCOIC if we as counselors cannot get what we want for our applicants.

I'll be at MEPS tomorrow to negotiate my contract, and he said in the morning he'll call one last time to be sure about the option 40's no longer being available. Is this true?
