Introduction-Christian

Post by Chuck Grizzles »

Hello Rangers! My name is Christian. I am 19 years old and currently attending Penn State University. I will not be returning next semester but will instead be enlisting, with an Option 40 contract no doubt. I am extremely excited to test my mettle in the military. My father served in the Army as a medic during the 70s and 80s. That coupled with watching movies, playing video games, reading books, and doing research have all helped to fascinate me with the military from a very young age. After much thought and the realization that I want something more from life, I decided that college is just not right for me at the moment and I want to pursue my dream of becoming an Army Ranger. I want to belong to an elite brotherhood and achieve what most only dream of. I am ready and willing to do whatever it takes. Please take me under your wings Rangers. This is the only thing I desire and I will not stop until I am dead or have the tab and scroll.

I've contacted a recruiter and all my paperwork is in. I will start the process of MEPS and all that jazz as soon as the semester ends and I return home.

On a side-note, I started running after a two year hiatus a couple of weeks ago and managed to get shin splints right off the bat (the hiatus was due to my obsession with weight training and the avoidance of anything aerobic in the fear that it would decrease my strength, terrible idea I know, I'm now fully focused on doing whatever will make me the best Soldier possible). I know this is really just a minor injury and something I better be able to push through in the future when I'm in the military but right now it doesn't seem worth it so I'm currently taking a couple weeks off from running and using aerobic machines instead. As soon as I feel comfortable running again I will administer a PT test to myself. My push-ups are in the 70s and increasing at a steady rate and my sit-ups are in the 80s or low 90s, I will post precise numbers as soon as my shins are better though.

Well Christain, a man has only one opportuinity to create a favorable initial impression. So far, you seem to have it together. Where are you from in Prennsylvania? If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. You are doing the right thing by giving yourself time to heal. Shin splints can lead to greater damages. When you recover, please record your PT scores on this thread. Never, never quit!

Excellent! You have less time to get ready than you realize. For your first task, please look over the Ranger Creed and give me your thoughts on this thread (250 words or less). Please complete this task not later than Sunday, 20 May 2012. JNevewr, never quit!

Ranger Jim,

I am extremely sorry for the late reply. No excuse.

The Ranger Creed is beautiful. It is a set of rules that I have been trying my best to live by during the past three months. During tough workouts I will sometimes recite a stanza, usually the last one, to myself. It gives me strength and a feeling of brotherhood even though I have done nothing to earn a place in the Regiment. It's like a prayer. Something to place my faith in. I don't know if I am ready Ranger Jim but I fucking love it already.

Here's an update on the status of my training:

I've been following the 12-week RASP prep program. I'm currently on week 5. Good shit. Love it. I'm also going to my recruiter's training thing once a week. The station commander is a tabbed and scrolled Ranger! He was in 1st Battalion during the 90s I believe. I also signed up for MMA classes at my local gym. Hard to fit them in with work and the RASP program but a great workout when I manage to nonetheless. Think that covers everything.

Once again, extremely sorry for the late reply Ranger Jim.
