Choice of Duty Station?

Post by rgrokelley »

Are the recruits able to enlist for a choice of a duty station at this time? I have a pretty squared away JROTC cadet who wants to be airborne infantry or cav scout, in the 82nd Airborne. Recruiters here are telling him that he can't be ensured airborne and he can't enlist for a duty station.

B.S. or what? Let me know so I can be properly loaded when I visit the recruiters.

Choice of duty station is no longer an enlistment option. It is possible to get airborne in your contract, but it is pretty much only attached to the support jobs these days. If he is a high school senior he has a much better chance at getting a combat arms job than the high school grads do (the only combat arms job available to grads right now is 18x).
