Introduction blueline73

Post by blueline73 »

Howdy Rangers. I just wanted to do this right, and post an introduction. I am an Infantry Sergeant in the VAARNG. I've deployed twice to Iraq (2007 and 2010), but pulled convoy security duty on both tours. So, nothing too high-speed there. After five years of begging and whining, my unit finally sent me to WTC RTAC. I completed RTAC with class 09-11 and graduated Ranger School with class 10-11 (I was enjoying myself so much I decided to spend an extra couple of weeks in the Mountains.) It was truly an honor and a privelege to get to know and train with the real Rangers, SF, and Active Duty Officers and Enlisted Soldiers in Ranger School.

On the civilian side, I'm a police officer. I have been a patrol officer in a small city in VA for 3.5 years, and was recently selected as a probationary member of our tactical team. I'm happily married and have two horrible, smelly, hairy children (an english mastiff and a pit/boxer mix.)

Prior to going to RS, I read just about every post in the RS forum on this site. The information generously provided by the Rangers on this forum was instrumental in my success in RS. I just wanted to post here to express my gratitude for that, and to thank you all for your service to the greatest country in the world.

Having run the roads all over Iraq to inlude in and out of Al Asad and the Tallil AOs I can honestly say "don't belittle your contributions" to the war effort (it was guys like you keeping guys like me safe ). You are damn sure welcome here Brother. My step son lives in Lynchburg, get up that way every chance I get. BEAUTIFUL is an understatement, no wondwer the Army of Northern VA fought so hard to keep her free from them, shall we say "Northern Agggressors" 8)

Shenandoah Valley is one of my all time favorite places.
I always take I-81 for views I appreciate.
Camped all over as a young un & oldster. Did Skyline Drive 3 years in a row (each year traveling different direction 84, 85, 86)
Visited Antietam back in 62.
Camped across from Harper Ferry where both the Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers meet in 84. Camped on State Virginia Beach one sand dune from the ocean. That was the 1st time I had to use wooden table legs as tent pegs, hahaha groan.
In my next life I will move to your area.

Thank you Ranger colt1rgr. I may have passed you on MSR Tampa once or twice. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to spend my entire life in the "Breadbasket of the Confederacy." My Regiment traces it's lineage back to the Stonewall Brigade, and I have a pile of ancestors who fought for the Confederacy, in the same Brigade. I love the history of the 116th BCT and the Valley.
