Selection/Orders for RASP

Post by mypetrobot »

I have a friend who put in a packet for Regiment and he was wondering if his recruiter will him if he has been selected for RASP or just wait the 3 weeks or so for orders to be made?

he can call the recruiter or wait. i waited for 2 months when i was going to RIP then sent an email. turned out my orders had been cut and the class had started already but my no one from my unit had signed for my orders so they had to be recut and were emailed directly to me.

I am his friend, I applied almost 6-8 weeks ago. Let me build upon what my buddy has said.

Right now I am a 14 series and I got an email from Ranger Recruitment, I sent them my ERB, and gave them some info (They are trying to reclass me to 13F) they said my packet was submitted and in 6-8 weeks I should have something pop up on my ERB. This week my ERB updated to Surplus Soldier does this have anything to do with me getting orders? I am kind of curious how the whole process will work? Am I going to go to Rasp first or am I going to Reclass first? I ask these questions because my unit is only slightly "off" and I am trying to nail down information so I am not too chewed up when I leave or when things start popping off. Any info would be appreciated in case my unit tries to eff me in the process so I can clearly communicate and actually know what I am talking about to the 75th recruiter station. Appreciate it.

your ERB isn't going to show orders assignments. sometimes you'll get a copy emailed to you. usually your unit S-1 will let your C.O.C. know when they've come in. if in doubt, start bugging S-1. as for reclassing, yes, you'll reclass before going to RIP. kind of hard to select someone in an MOS that isn't slotted on the MTOE if the course is a selection course only (like RIP, instead of the Qcourse that trains you in a whole new MOS). now one thing you can watch for is an email in your ako letting you know that you've been slotted in ATRRS to go to the 13F course. that'll be a dead give away something has happened. if it's been 8 weeks and you haven't heard anything i'd call the recruiter back, if he doesn't tell you what you need to know contact the Ranger Branch Manager (contact info on HRC homepage).

Yeah...what he said....

One of the hardest transitions "imports" have to make is getting out of the habit of saying shit like that. Same goes for "hooah", "high and tights", and other things of that nature.

you'll find out that the big army has this mindset that all the "high speed" units are all gung ho, hoah hoah and shit. you'll also find that that is not true. the more "high speed" you get, the less loud and obvious you try to be.

Well said. Was at a PA National Guard function the other month and if I had to hear one more soldier say hoah to another I think I would have slit my wrists. Can always tell the wannabee warriors from those who actually do it. Don't get me wrong every soldier and service contributes to the mission but be proud of what you do or did and stop trying to be something you're not. Actions always speak louder than words. Always was fond of the term "Quiet Professional."

Not so much wannabe, just a common expression found in big army. The only time you really hear it in batt. today is if it is used in a sarcastic or mocking fashion.
Example:
SGL at WLC: " hey there sarn't, you better move that Ranger scroll of yours down to the center of the velcro, doesn'ts belong up there by the flag!"

Ranger SGT begrudgingly attending WLC: "HOOAH BIG SAARN'T" followed by the classic 'I'll kill you in your sleep if you tell me how to wear my Ranger scroll look....'
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
