I have some shame to say that I do not feel academically on par to take the ASVAB and pass the required areas. Judging from an altruistic state, I think it would be nice to help recruits in this area. Does it pertain more to the general army over the army rangers program, yes. It is still an important part, however, I think it should be a sub topic of "Recruiters and Schools - Q&A". In doing my best to show candor, or frankly put, I feel I need to study more. I was put in a circumstance where I graduated from high school but did not learn the necessary skills. Now I study on my free time because I think I could pass extraordinarily well. A lot of Rangers scoff at the idea, they feel that the ASVAB is a joke. I guess to some degree, yes, it is. The test is based off of the first level of "real math" or Algebra. I'm not too familiar with the more intricate areas of it, albeit. I've looked around sometime wondering where I should go to learn the basics to score higher. Recruiters say to, "Brush up for a week," because they think you would be cramming your head full of information you would later struggle to remember when test day comes. For me, that would not be enough. I think you can study alone at home for a lot longer to actually know the subjects. One good source to learn was Google searching. From Google searching I came across ehow.com. What I didn't understand in ehow I Googled. If I didn't understand a sentence, there's always a word that needs to be looked up. Dictionary.com. There are other websites, like Freerice.com that tests you on complex words. For every question you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to combat world hunger. The recruiters recommend a book called ASVAB for dummies, it recognizes exactly how the test works and has study guides for each section. Not enough on its own, it is still a big help that I use. Get books, and what you don't understand in books, Google it over and over until you feel competent to regurgitate the information. The ASVAB is no brain twister. Likewise, I think it's important to show, like through physical training. It's important to know that studying is really seeing how common sense something you didn't know before can be and how easy it can be to improve. We all know we need at least a 50 on the AFQT and a 110 in GT (General Technical) and a 100 in CB (Combat). Then you wonder, what's in General Technical? I remember reading earlier on this website, a forum suggesting every question you may have has already been answered. More than Likely, yes, I could agree. Has this question been asked? Probably. It's nice to have things organized, and in no way am I being brazen or brusque, I think it would be a commodity to this site, to add in a ASVAB section to "Recruiters and Schools - Q&A". It may prevent a thousand new already answered questions.
(By the way, for those who are wondering what make up the scores for the areas on the ASVAB you need to do well in.)

We're all human, no more, no less than each other. It is worth loathing when someone forgets that.

I'm not an admin or mod, but I suggest that you post this over there & if it seems like it is well recieved - after you've cleaned it up a bit - it might be made a 'sticky'.
