What did your Physical Therapist tell you about treadmills or improving cardio?

Listen to your physical therapist. Usually they are sadists who will push you to your limits, and their goal is to get you whole again.

As for running on a a treadmill, it depends on the product. Some are designed to help absorb the shock, others are like running on a concrete slab. You want shock absorption right now. The biggest difference IMO between running on level ground and running on a treadmill is that when you get off the treadmill, your head will be all wonky from moving in place. A lot like when you ride in a car backwards for a while. It takes a second to get the vertigo to chill.
