Re: Got my 11x Opt. 40
Let us know when the contract is in hand and says Option 40 on it.

Don't sign anything till everything you want is on the contract.... ANYTHING.Zane wrote:Rangers,
My recruiter reserved my contract Monday. I go to MEPS tonight and tomorrow, and ship to OSUT Oct. 12.
I have one question for y'all. On my reservation, it says Option 40, it also has the beginning dates of OSUT and Airborne, but says nothing about RIP. Is this normal, or do they usually say something about RIP?
Thank you, Rangers, for this great site. I look forward to the opportunity to earn my place here.
I will never quit.

Re: Got my 11x Opt. 40
OSUT & basic airborne are scheduled for centuries in advance in order to handle the many thousands who are always arriving.
RIP schedules are more loose to accomodate the needs of the Regiment.
Since so few of you with the option 40s remain in the pipeline long enough to even show up for RIP, they'll schedule the class when enough candidates are likely to appear.
Or maybe they just wing it. I don't know, but it doesn't matter because I got mine![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/o_icon_mrgreen.gif)

Hi Zane - I have a boy by that name so your post caught my eye.
I'm just a Mom of a RIPper right now, but I will add that you must keep your eyes on the prize. My son was in OSUT with about a dozen guys with RIP contracts. Only one remains in RIP with him now. By the time they had finished OSUT and Airborne they were sick of being in a training environment, tired of Columbus GA, and intimidated by what was to come -- and so dropped out to be assigned to a unit. My son was pretty sick of it himself. Gotta keep your goal in mind.
