General Interest Question

Post by NoMoreRegrets »

How does one address an RI during one's training? It's my understanding that during Basic and AIT the instructors are addressed as "Drill Sergeant". Does this manner of addressing one's instructor continue on into RIP and beyond, or is there a term more specific and unique for the Rangers?

Don't listen to those guys, they will only get you into trouble. But I guaran god damn t that you better address your First Seargant as TOP. It's a title of respect. Also, your Sergeants should be call SIR. Got it.

Ranger DocDaigle, that was what prompted the question to begin with.. in all my experience, albeit limited, around Army NCO's, I've seen nothing but a distaste for being called "sir" because they "work for a living". Anyway, I'm sure I'll learn it all the hard way eventually.

This shit just cracks me up. Check this out nomoreregrets (BTW you sure as hell picked an odd name with questions like that)

Doc was right, don't listen to ANYBODY, just show up with your CD Walkman playin your favorite rock tune as loud as you can get it. The first Ranger that walks up to you and says something (though you thought you wouldn't be able to hear him over the music and yet you can hear "everything" he's saying to you) pay no attention to it. Its a scare tactic that is used to see how well you intially handle stress. Now this is very important, very calmly tell the RI that you've been given all the details on armyranger.com and you know he's just trying to scare you but it won't work, then ask him very calmly (remember he's testing you for stress), but assertatively ask him to escort you to your bunk so that you can set all your gear up nice and neat like cause you hate anything being "out of place". Remember what you learned in basic is important stuff. Then ask what time is chow served, because we all know you'll be hungry. Be sure to talk about how much you liked Airborne School and all the fun you had.

You do that and I'm certain that you'll figure out what to address them as. Then we'll gladly change your name from "NoMoreRegrets" to BallsChoppedOff. ARE YOU TAKIN NOTES SOLDIER!?!
