People poo-poo that, but (here it comes) :D in my favorite book military fitness he recommends running in boots 50% of the time.Ranger Bill wrote:Back when we ran in jump boots, we never had these kinds of problems... :)

My whole time in I've been using the wrong type of shoes with limited problems. When I finally had someone tell me the kind of shoe I needed is when I've had my small problems. Again, I've had these shoes for at least 2 months now and are just seeing the problem come up.
I'll look into the things you suggested. I don't think it's Morton's Neuroma because there is no pain. It just slowly goes numb after 20 minutes or so of running. It's only happened twice so I haven't isolated timing or anything like that yet.
My shoes may be too narrow. The pair I had prior to this were E's and these are normal width. My feet still feel comfortable though. No discomfort while running. The only thing I have gotten with these shoes is occasional arch pain. Never too serious, just slight.
Anyway, I didn't go to the TMC today because I just can't justify it yet... Plus someone I work with gets the same issue and did go. They didn't do anything for him because something like this is apparently difficult to diagnose.

I did intervals this morning for about 3.3 miles and didn't get anything from it. Not that I was expecting to since my threshold seems to be around 3.5 at a constant pace. I did loosen them up a bit...
The only other thing I do differently is I lace them so when I tighten them it will lock on itself. That way if they do come undone they won't loosen. I have it in the top notch. I'm going to move it down to the first one out of the set of three to see if that takes some strain of my ankle which maybe is cutting of circulation...

I personally hate running, and think it's overated. As my favorite author says, how often in the military are you going to run 5 miles in shorts and running shoes on the battlefield?
I know people say this at times usually because they suck at it. But the issue isn't whether or not you will run 5 miles on a battlefield. It's all about your ability to cope with stress and perform (think breathing and trigger control) while your body is trying to recover. The better your aerobic condition the faster you can regain your composure after you run balls to the wall for 200 meters with you ruck and body armor on. That's my theory anyway.BadMuther wrote:

Nice one. I'll ride the horse. You can run 22 miles.Flesh Thorn wrote:Running and Human Evolution
