Ganglion cyst and my pushup form...

Post by Coprhead6 »

Hey guys,
I've had a problem with ganglion cysts in my left wrist for a couple of years now and, according to the doctor, I will probably keep getting them for years to come (getting the cyst removed won't solve the problem). They are brought on by putting weight on my wrist in the normal pushup position, making normal pushups hurt like HELL. However, when I make a fist and do my pushups I don't have a problem anymore since I am compressing the wrist and not bending it. Will this form be a serious issue with the Army? What do you suggest I do?

I'm no doc, and I've been out of the army for many years, but I would say, if you cannot do standard pushups, you won't make it through Week 1 of Basic. It only gets worse after that. I would explore other career avenues...seriously.

That's right Ranger Zonk. For the past couple years I've been wacking the little bastard with a biology text book and everything works out just fine :) I was just wondering if the Army would take the "fist form," but I guess not. I'll just need to work through it... Hooah!

I broke my left wrist twice and have a plate and 7 screws. Push-ups hurt in normal config, so I'd do a lot of fist push ups during PT when I could sneak them in. I'll admit, it's easier to do as an officer. EMs probably couldn't get away with it.

If you do not stop whacking it with a biology book, you are going to have more
problems than a hurt wrist.

Try Penthouse or something, the pictures are way better.

Can you not just go to a dermatologist and have it removed? It's right under the skin, correct, like that dummy in the video?
