If a lad gets through the selection process, remains physically fit, what's the age the army says he must leave active service.
By active service I mean still working as part of a unit dedicated to closing with enemy to do the business.
I'm curious as the Brits up till recently was a very rigid 40, but scale has slipped recently (and rightly so), as it has been noted that we don't all hit forty and turn into Pearl from Blade.
Be aware I am not looking to try and join.
Although I was very fit once, I'm not ashamed to say that these days I much prefer to park my oozing bloated temple of hedonism on the couch in my speedo type undies. Watching my perpetual motion one pack ripple, while I lie bathed in a greasy layer of sweat and crumbs from the effort of necking lard sandwiches (with extra lard).
(God I'm getting emotional just thing about it).

The maximum age for entry into the U.S. Army is currently 42. This is due to the fact that more "seasoned" people look for the chance to serve in today's Army.
The mandatory retirement age from the Army was (and should still be) age 62. This gives even the older people a chance to complete a 20 year career.
