Introduction

Post by NorTexJD »

Hello, my name is Josh, I'm 21 years old, have graduated high school and work for a cell phone company doing technical support.

I just recently took the sample asvab in the recruiters office and scored a 90. I am waiting a few months to enlist so I can get in top physical shape prior to bct, I've been doing push ups, sit ups, and running till I can't go any further. I am going to enlist for 68w with bat and opt40. I would like to thank all the U.S. Armed Forces members for the information and insight provided here, and most of all for serving our country. I have recently purchased the U.S. Army Ranger Handbook, as well as a combat Leaders field guide, because the more information I can take in the better. My father served with the 173rd 17th Cavalry in vietnam, my uncle was a medic in the 82nd, and my grandfather served with the 2nd armored as well. I look forward to serving my country in the near future. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about Rangers.

Welcome and thanks for your desire to become an Army Ranger. Most likely, you will not ship immediately after enlisting. Many have to wait for months for the training they choose. Talk to your recruiter about the Delayed Entry Program. You could choose to ship six months from now, and spend that time getting in shape and also earning your way to enter active duty in the pay grade of E-3. But whatever, be sure to read the ROE PM I have sent you.

Sorry, it was a bad joke. No, I wouldn't suggest that.

My advice is to read much, post little. Consider requesting a mentor.

Good luck.
