Introduction

Post by Highwayhigh »

Hello all. My name is Logan and I am a corporal (E-4) in the Marines. I am an avionics tech on the AV-8B harrier. My EAS is in several years and I am currently looking to head down a different path when my enlistment ends. Whether that be Army SF, Rangers, Marine Force Recon, or Navy Seals.

Just some random noise: I think the one thing that really led me to pursue the rangers was a recent work-up in Nevada. We were occupying the base the same time as a unit of Army Rangers. Of course, the Marines I work with made a stink about it. Sibling rivalry, you know. And one night the Rangers parachuted in from C-130's and did a simulated raid on the flight line. The captured one of the buildings, and did the regular Ranger deal. The next day I was working on a jet and thinking about it. "Somewhere out there, there are people getting paid to jump out of planes and raid buildings, while I'm out here, freezing my nuts off, putting in some damn computer, and getting screamed at for losing a freaking washer." Not that Rangers don't have their fare share of BS to deal with, but damn.

Anyways, I know us Marines can be arrogant pricks, whatever. One team, one fight. Much props to what you guys do, and maybe someday I will wear the tab.

That's funny. I used to think; Here I am, freezing my nuts off in the mud after taking a terrifying jump from a perfectly good airplane while some lucky SOB is sitting on a flight line with no concern higher than finding a lost washer.

Best of luck in your pursuits and welcome.

Haha, the grass is always greener I guess.

But ya, I know the PT is a joke. We actually don't PT at all in my shop. It's up to us to do our own PT. Granted we usually work minimum 10 to 11 hour days, 5 days a week, but whatever. I realize I need to get back into shape, so I'm kicking it up.

Also, I've read about the difficulties of getting an option 40 being prior enlisted. Hopefully if I choose to go down the Ranger path, this will be something I can overcome.

It's been done in the past. I know of quite a few Rangers who are prior service Marines. We have at least one on here that posts from time to time.
