S.E.R.E.
Hi, Son is going to sere starting Nov 18th. Can anyone give me any INFO on what is ahead of him. Of course i have looked and read all info I could find, but would like to hear any first-hand info that a Ranger might have. thanks
Have you tried this link?

Don't know what more info you could be looking for besides this? I was surprised this much info is readily available online.
Perhaps some of the BTDT's have more insight, but that was plenty of info for me!

The course is only a few weeks long.
While you lose track of time in the course, the instructors cannot kill you, and they cannot physically hurt you in a permanent fashion. They can hurt you a little bit, and they can scare you, and they can make you extremely uncomfortable, but the course only last three weeks, and pretty much anything can be endured for a finite period of time, as long as you cannot be maimed or killed.
My fondest memory: stealing huge turnips from a farmer's field. Score!
Here is my confession for the day: I smuggled a tin of Cope through a search. I figure that the statute of limitations has expired. That was resistance, in my book.

How's that for my take on it?

I think that is about the only course I have seen where trying to get info beforehand is not good.
Follow the packing list, and keep an open mind. Getting tips when you are well-fed and rested is not the same as the light bulb coming on when you are tired, hungry, and getting smacked around.

I didn't get to go through the course but when I was in RIP holdover we were op force for one of the courses for a Ranger Batt. It's not exactly a fun course to go through.

---Never been through SERE, however the two briefs given to me about POW life came from my grandfather that was a POW in Nazi Germany and an aquaintance that was on the Battan Death march. Both accounts pretty much told me that I did not want to be a POW......Not to mention the fact that if you get caught in Haji land, the prospects of any "little victroy" before/during being tortured, demasculated, raped, converted to Islam, then executed was very slim to nill. I am not saying that it is "harder" or "tougher" today, its just that is the way it is nowadays. We were also told that upon being captured as security contractors that we would probably be heavily doped up in captivity.
-It was/is pretty much common knowledge that one saw all fights through to the end without exception. At least it was on my teams in 04', 05', and 06'.
