Am I ready for Ranger School?

Post by m-14.762 »

I really thought I was making progress in my PT but really I dont feel in shape. I did the 5 mile run over at RTB in 38:30 which isn't very good but is passing. I did 9 pullups 80 situps and 68 pushups on my last PT test. Am I doing ok being 1 month out or am I really sucking?

Time will tell, I would think that you have 2 to 3 weeks to do some good PT and week 4 to just maintain. Now would not be the time to push real hard and get sports related injury. I would want to be a doing better on a PT test. How good are you at rucking, I would think that would be a way bigger concern.

Your PT is OK. Combine that with heart, the will to make it and no injuries and you will do fine. It is you inner endurance and strength that will get you through.

Being ready for Ranger School is like being ready to die. You may think you are, but you'll never know until it happens. Oh, and they both suck.

To a private in regiment, its not about being ready its about being allowed to go, Ranger school is not that hard (the hardest part for us was the Regimental Pre-Ranger where you really earn your tab IMHO), I repeat it is not that hard, in your career you will hopefully do harder things that Ranger School will have better prepared you for. If you have to ask yourself if you are ready you are possibly fucking yourself beforehand, be confident and be able to pass your PT test, after that I don't recall any other physical tests, just be able to walk (translating don't be a quitter, and why would you after wasting all that time to get there just to quit, but some do), more importantly make sure you're patrolling knowledge is good and you are ready, however I'm just a graduate, there are a couple former RI's and Pre Ranger Cadre on here, my advice, don't fuck yourself and just go do it, to those that can its not that hard of a school.

Doesn't the WTC course have a 90% success rate for Ranger School or is that just a rumor?

Who cares if you think you are ready or not.

Get your mind right and go!!!

I was not ready, but I went anyway I decided no matter what I was gonna be a Ranger.

It took me 123 days to get my Tab, but the sacrifice was worth it.

Just make sure you are in good enough shape to make it through the first week, then after that its all heart and stamina.

I left from the G-3 (REMF desk job) and went to Ranger school with no Pre ranger school training(top 5 events only), RIP etc.

It made it harder on me, but my desire to succeed outweighed all of my troubles/failures.

You will decide if you make it or not, unless you are willing to spend 6 months+ and do what ever it takes to get your tab you shouldnt waste your time.

Good luck
