When I became a Boy Scout, my father presented me with his sterling silver flask he carried when he was a Boy Scout. In it was what he carried when he went to "the field" ...... 6oz. of "Girl Scout Water" (lighter fluid) to start fires when the Scout Master wasn't looking

"Selection" Now adays in the Rangers does not mean SFAS ;)

They rather have you go to the other one, cause they know you have little chance of making it all the way.....you will get thrown out of battalion if you decide to go to SFAS...it almost seems like they are not "worthy" of battalion rangers? seriously.

SFAS sure sucks but if you make it it's worth it. Our Jr. Weapons came back from the long walk...didn't make it (got hurt) and he's going back again and my Jr. Charlie's going also. Our chain of command at least in my company is really supportive with the caveat that they go after our deployment. My team leader and team sgt both support them. Of course they'll get train up time when we come back, my Team Sgt is cool with that.

It does help that guys have taken the long walk from team/company and have made it. Coming from a NG SF company that's pretty good.

When I went through, back in 92, you had a year to go to group or you're selection expired. Is it still that way or is good forever now?

Suposedly it's permanent now. (I don't plan on finding out for sure, though.)

Provided that you went while enlisted and you're still enlisted then you're good to go.

Right now, there's a rough draft that says you have to go to the SFQC within 3 yrs after SFAS. It's still hasn't been implemented yet.

It's been that way for years and is pretty stupid. Sorry if I feel like making my own decisions and feel it's time to be treated like an adult.
