Introduction

Post by jason17 »

Hello, my name is Jason. I am 21 years old and a senior in college. I hope to join the Army after I graduate in January of 2008.
I plan on joining enlisted and am torn between three routes for potential service in the Army. I have come here to learn more about the Army Rangers. I appreciate all military member's service as well as the information provided on this site.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in enlisting in the Army to serve our country at this very important time. You mention three options you are considering and assuming one of those is Ranger, it raises curiousity as to what the other two might be. But what ever, be sure it is your choice and that it is right for you.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

Ranger Bill,

I have done quite a bit of research on the 18x contract and am just beginning to look into option 40. Right now I am leaning more towards attempting to join the ranks of the Rangers. The other option I have considered is 11x with guaranteed shot at airborne school and going from there.

Welcome Jason, where are you going to school? You need to tell us a little more about your present situation.

Ranger Jim,

I am a business major at Seattle Pacific University in Washington. I noticed some other intros had pt scores posted so I will post mine.

All unofficial:

Push-ups- 55
Sit -ups- 76
2 mile run- 13:45 (this was two months ago and I have been running 3+ miles since)

I definitely need to work on my push-ups and everything else for that matter. Currently I am working up to running 6 miles a day 5 days a week. I have been working harder than I have ever worked in order to get in shape for whatever I decide to do.

Welcome Jason.

Push ups... I can help. I was a "Strong" Ranger for the first 6 months. :)

Do as many pushups as you can in one minute (lets say 60)

Rest one minute

Do the sam amount of pushups in the next minute: When you cannot do a norma pushup, do girl pushups until you hit the mark, or time is up.

Repeat 5 times.

Only do this once a day, and you will see great improvements very quickly.

Good luck to you!!

Welcome to the site, and thanks for considering service to our country. If you ask me (and you might not) I would discard 11x w/ airborne option. If you want to be infantry and you want to be airborne you might as well go all the way.

One last thing: If you do decide to go 11x with airborne option make sure its in your contract. Getting airborne is damn near impossible once you leave for basic.
