They hold moisture in, they are comfortable, they have good soles and very good construction, they are a bit heavy, they are good in the cold and most other temps. When it is really hot they heat up your feet something fierce.
Overall a good boot but a little clunky. Good ankle support and stability.
I have the Bellville 700s, they are also issuing Bates and Wellcos but I haven't put my dogs in them.

I have taken a pair of these and broken them in using neat's foot and mink oil. It has softened the flex points on top of my arch, reduced heel rub, stretched the toe box so there is no rub on my pinky toes (I have a wide flat foot). I also use a thick cushioned high arch insole in these and they work especially well with a differential lacing system.
