Can height be detrimental?

I'm 5'7" 140 pounds, scored high 200's on a self-tested PT test. My question is threw all of the training that people go through to become rangers, can my height hinder me on anything?

ADAM....Im really going to try and be fatherly here because I usually wouldnt be. Your height is of no consequence. I have seen them in every size and some of the most lethal humans I have ever witnessed were very small men. The old saying, "it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog".
The only limitation will be what your mind says is a limitation.

5'7 isn't really that short anyway.

I knew two kids from my school that were over 6'2" and they both screwed up their ankles in airborne school. I don't know if their height had anything do to with it, but I would think a short, more compact body would be better for that kind of stuff.

I'm 6'2 so that bodes well for me huh? Well, at least if I hurt my ankles they can always just amputate at the knee and I'll STILL be taller than Devilrat.

...and for the record....Ranger Spartan is everybit of 4'11" and he did Ranger and SF.

There was a little guy in 3rd plt in Bco with me. He just so happened to be a fellow Pig Man. His weapons case would drag the floor of the bird on jumps. That little bastard was a humpen sumbitch.

I'm on the left of course and the right is my very good friend Jesus. He's only about 5'1 and could ruck and run with the best of them. If I had a choice for someone to drag or carry my ass in combat, he'd be one of my first choices. Size dont matta!

In early '92 I was part of a trial when the Stinger was being experimented with jumping. On the first day of training there was a LTC (the Airborne school Commander I think) there and he asked who was under 5'8". I raised my hand and said I was only 5'7". He told me I better grow an inch by next week. Bottom line is adapt and over come Ranger.

Good point - some pieces of equipment are designed for larger people to jump and guess what? That leaves you out!
