Shock Knife. Realistic training tool or cute toy?

These guys are making training blades with a taser on the cutting edge. The idea is that if you're training for knife fighting and have a blade that actually hurts when it hits you, your training will be a hell of a lot better.

It seems like a really good idea, but I know that Joe can break anything, so I'm wondering if anyone's tried these things out before.

It's an idea with merit, but when drilling knife defense I seem to always know when I got hit. I think this would be a good tool in dynamic or sceniaro based type training.

They seem to imply that the shock thing will teach you to be a better fighter, what I didn't really see mentioned was that in a knife fight you're going to get cut. It's just better if you're well trained fighter and can choose where you get cut at.

The idea I got from it was that if it hurts to get cut with a training knife, you'll bust your ass more to not get cut.

Although, if you're really doing what you're supposed to, you probably don't need the added motivation. Now that I think about it, I think it's more for the students that are slacking off and need the extra motivation, but a boot up their ass would probably accomplish the same thing and be about a grand cheaper.
