IT Band Friction

Post by Atrax »

A few months ago I was diagnosed with IT (Iliotibial) Band Friction, the inflammation of the hip to knee ligament. My Physical Therpaist reccomended strengthening excercises, new shoes, and more stretching. I have done all of this, in addition to a Glucosamine regimen, but still can't seem to shake this problem 100%. With this injury being common among runners, I figured someone here would have had this same problem and overcome it. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Stretching has always solved the problem for me.

Are you using this stretch?

Also, what is your weekly mileage?
Stretching won't solve the problem by itself. You need to back off on your mileage a little, or even take a break for a week or two.

Are you cross training?
In my own experience, cycling can aggravate ITB friction syndrome.

When is this kicking in, after how many miles or days?
