Another place to look is AR 40-501 Standards of Medical Fitness http://www.usapa.army.mil/pdffiles/r40_501.pdf

The physical exam for color vision is called the vivid Red/Green color vision test.

I have dealt with the color vision deal for years when it comes to my professions. It all depends on your level of color deficiency. Get in the habit, unless you truly only see in shades of grey, of referring to your vision as being color deficient. I had big problems before, because someone referred to me as being color blind, when I have a green red deficiency.

The flight thing will be a sticky issue as I have been told many times in the past. Being a cop is virtually out of the question usually (something about grabbing the guy in the purple shirt, when it was supposed to be the guy in the blue shirt.)

As for the tests, good luck and don;t take them lightly when you are in the room. Look at the test paper from slightly different angles if you can, and maybe under different lighting.

Good luck.

My Uncle went to Airborne School and became a Apache/Kiowa Warrior Pilot and he was Color Blind....(Air Force Refused him because he was Blue/Green color blind) I plan on talking to him about it sometime but I wanted to get you Rangers opinions about it as well. What is the "acceptable standards" that the army allows before they will not let you go to Airborne? I have tried to use the search engine and google first to find this out but did not succede in finding the info I wanted.
Do you know what a search button is?

If not, here is what it looks like so you can use it!
