Hopeful Dad

Post by bbpapi »

Hello everyone,
Today is day 55 of my sons journey through Ranger school and I hope to be driving a carload full of in-laws 1200 miles next week for graduation....well maybe I should rephrase and say that I hope to be going to graduation next week.....and not so much driving with in-laws for 2400 miles.
I was hoping that someone could give a brief description of what graduation is like...
And, working backwards from a Wednesday graduation, what is a fair expectation of when phone priviledges might be given. We're leaving Monday morning and I'd like to know we've got a go, before putting too many miles behind us.
Also, has anyone ever figured out how to explain the Ranger school experience to civilians. I find myself talking about sleep and meal deprivation, with few details on what it is that is actually taught.
I've enjoyed the various postings over the past few months, in some small way it has been a substitute for regular communications with my student. Thank you all, and thanks for any info that you may have.

My uncle Chuck said, "all graduations should be like Ranger School graduation. Explosives, combatives, helicopters, trapize walks and then you get an award no one can take away from you.

Welcome!
I sent you a private message, but if you are not sure how to get to it - you may never get to read what I sent. I am no authority on when our sons might be able to call us, but my husband teaches at CGSC and has a few Rangers in his class. They said to count backwards from graduation - so Tuesday would be a rehearsal and Monday would be a day to turn in gear/equipment. They think “ourâ€
