methods for breaking in boots

Post by Grumble and Grunt »

2 pairs of jungles currently being broken in=
1 pair 9.5R Green Canvas Jungles with Panama sole
1 pair 9.0R Black Nylon Jungles with Panama sole and speedlace system
Both are made by Altama.

I have started by soaking both of them (on different time cycles) for approx 4 hours in warm water. Then I wear them dry for a day changing my socks approx every 3 hours. I repeat this for 3-4 days making sure to bend and squat in them seating creases above my arches and balls of my feet. Next I have started to apply neats foot oil with a rag taking care to rub it in the flex points and hard edges while working it in to stiff areas by bending and flexing the leather. I apply oil to them on the first day about 3 times and then every other day for about a week finally using a coat of mink oil to further condition. I use the oily sparingly but thouroughly and carefully.

Any hints, comments, suggestions, flaws, or alternate methods for discussion?

I would suggest having it done. It is a whole bunch of work but I have never had a pair of boots that comfortable before or after
