that seems to be the most popular use. its a bitch in the stryker to take the cvc off and transition to the mich while dismounting. 2/1 is still to cheap to purchase the hans mikes like cb's have. i'll figure something out but it will change jsut like everything else. by the way chief smith aka trigger lives about a block from me.

Last time I saw that pork-ass, I was loading the platoon on a 47, and I hear that awful voice come up behind, just like when he was the PSG.

I'd rather hear a fork scraped on a chalk board than that geek's voice again.

Wouldn't be surprised if his 60 flies lopsided.

I thought that the shit brick would have logged enough hours to go some place cooler to fly.

Oh well.

Have fun in the great white north. Germany's a hoot. I'm the only Ranger. Everybody else is from somewhere else. I'm still not fitting in real good, but it's fun fucking with people.

It's the headquarters for SOCEUR. LTC Smiley got me in the door here. Put your shit in when you get back. I'll put in as much of a good word as a SSG demotable can. It's heavy on the SF, Navy and AF side of the house because they have those guys over here, and they can bounce back and forth. Like RGT and 3/75.

It's mainly office crap, but by then you'd probably welcome that after the sand box. When my wife's done with her tour over here, hopefully we'll be heading back to Lewis, where I know how shit works.

Roger, he's gone now, but was kind enough to get me a job where I could wear the same color hat, and still be close to my wife.

Ranger Craig275,I have extensive experience with the Prc-148 as the Peltor also. The peltor is great but it dous not fit very well under my GNTEX helmet. If you need any help I would be glad to offer my assistance. If there is one thing I do know, its comm equipment.

I am just trying to get as much feedback as possible about the peltor before I deploy. It seems there is benefits and drawbacks to the peltor, then again all commo items will also have both. My favorite word seems to be in affect..............."METT-T"

What I can tell you is that everyone here loves the issued peltors that have them. I know I wouldn't mind a set, but I'm not deploying after all.

I can give you some tips on manufacturing your own antenna that will function better than the stock issued ones though.

Go buy 10 feet of RG-58 cable from Radio shack, as well as a connector that matches one of the antenna's off of it. You'll want one of the screw on type with a screw to hold the cable into the actual connector. Strip off all of the black insulation and the shielding from the inner clear cable. Leave about 2" at the base of the antenna near the connector. Once you have that done, tape up the end of the clear actual antenna you have made. Weave it through your interceptor over whichever shoulder is most convenient, in a manner that will let you pull it out if you need to for longer range transmission.

Doing this you will be using one full wavelength versus 1/4 wave which is the stock "long whip" that comes with the mbitr.

We have found that we can get much further range doing this on FM CT/FH versus any of the stock antennas, plus with it woven through your armor on the front and back it keeps your body out of the transmission path (FM Is line of sight) therefore you have a radiating and recieving element that is generally exposed 360 degrees at all times, as well as you no longer have an antenna poking you and generally getting in the way. This sits flush on your kit and you can use 100mph tape or zipties to keep the install clean.
