would have been interesting to see how somebody trained with a rifle like you Rangers would have faired (not missing the first 10 shots)

That was a great clip. I think the only hand to hand that should have taken place was between the guy who was almost eaten and the two morons who ran away instead of continuing to shoot their rifles.

The most excellent part of this short Feline Training Video is where the lion performed an immediate action drill once he realized what was going on. He assaulted through the ambush line of the enemy without any weapons and attacked the nearest shooter. The enemy didn't know what to do. Half of them ran away and the other half fired towards each other. It was only sheer luck that enabled them to withstand the fierce counter-attack of the lion and finally disable him, largely due to numerical superiority. Lions everywhere are no doubt revising their combat tactics following the circulation of this training video across the savannah.

Now, you bring up an interesting point Harris. If it was Rangers conducting the ambush, we would have been more tactical, we would have all been on line with each other instead of in a clusterfuck so we could all engage the lion at the same time, we would have initiated the ambush with our largest crew served weapons or better yet, at least five daisy chained claymore mines, and after it was over, we would have kicked the dumbasses who ran away out of our unit as soon as we returned to the rear area.

Kudo's to the well trained lion and of course, the steely nerves of the combat cameraman.

Not to keen on hunting just for trophies, if you watch it close the lion doesnâ€™t decide on which target till last sec, he is snapping teeth at both shooter and guide, probably saved shooters life, I think lion was probably hit hard by first shot, you see the loin fall on landing, when do you ever see a cat not land on its feet. Not to big on anything african, but will say those guys hunt them things with pointy sticks instead of 4 or 5 big bore rifles. Thatâ€™s got to take some sack! To bad the lion didnâ€™t get at least one outa that cluster fuck!

Dumbasses...would have been a better video if the lion killed all them fuckers.

I remember seeing an old documentary of a christian missionary couple in Africa...old boy was former SF, and would load up and go hunt poachers...anyone remember that one?

Same subject different cat, the tiger. In RVN we lost one Raymond Page Johnson to a tiger. Tiger came in NDP and took Johnson right out. This happened in the evening and team was unable to look for Johnson until light came. In the A.M. Johnson was found 75 meters from NDP. He was mauled to death. On VNM in DC. His entry lists him as none hostile death. Tigers were quite common in the jungles of RVN and our unit had many incidents with Tigers and other jungle creatures. just an old man remembering.
