I have a pair of Wiley-X that a friend from Stryker BDE sent me. I think they suck ass. They are hot and don't fit for shit.

when I first got to the 82nd we had em now they are issueing just ESS googles and oakley M frames ( the oakleys are fuckin nice for civilian and like a day out on the range and shit) wiley X's are fuckin weak because if you use the helmet strap that shit fuckin feels like someone is jaming their fingers in your eyes. I would say get oakleys or ESS googles depending on what kind of work you do.

Wiley-x's suck. The issued pair from RFI sucks ass even more than the rest of their line. The company's customer support licks dog turds and are unresponsive. Call Oakley if you're active duty and get their Military and LE price list. You'll pay less for Oakleys that way then for Wiley'x.

wiley x sucks

wiley x's are garbage, try and brush a piece of lint off the lens and they're ruined. ESS are good goggles/shades.

Whatever happened to good ole gargoyles? I have a pair of Wiley X's that my son in law gave me and I think they suck...great wind/sand protection, but they make your damn eyes sweat.

We have a friend of the family who is an optitrician. He gave my husband a pair for a late Christmas gift. My husband doesn't need prescription or anything, but if you go through an optitrician that sells them they actually fit you for them. He gave him the high-speed ballistic lenses and all that and he says they are pretty good. He does still prefer his issued goggles though when on a mission but says the Wiley-X's are okay while on the FOB not doing shit.

Up in a HMMWV turret for a year, I really liked my M-frame Oakleys. They're pretty comfortable and they'll take a beating. They weren't so hot on keeping out dust during a sandstorm, but we really only had 2 of those.

Wiley-Xs are just too damn sweaty to wear unless you have air moving. I liked them while I was up in the turret for a while, because there was a strong breeze while we were moving. Any time we stopped, though, those suckers would start filling up with sweat. I also wouldn't trust them to stop shrapnel, since a pair in my assault pack shattered. To be fair, I wasn't kind to them. I probably dropped a .50 cal ammo can on them or something. But I still wouldn't trust those things.

UVEX makes an OK pair of eye-pro, too. They're not as good as the Oakleys, but the Army issued me glasses inserts for them, so they're a good choice if you wear glasses.

I don't think so. Their websites don't seem to give make mention of it in their corporate info and I don't seem to be able to find any info on it online.

m frames

Go with the M Frames man. I think you will be pleased. The only problem is that they are a little bulky to store when not on your face.

True, but they do come with those sweet cases that you can store the glasses, some spare lenses and a cleaning cloth in, though. You wouldn't think that those cases could take that much of a beating, but they're pretty tough. I wasn't kind to mine and it made it out of the desert just fine.

I was issued the Wiley-X's with the dark/light lenses. Every single time I have used them, they fog up horribly. I really don't like them at all.

The ones with the foam gaskets to fit tight to your face and come with a strap to replace the temple-pieces?

Yeah, those are fucking fog magnets if you're not in the desert and not moving around much.

I got issued a set in Korea during train up and they'd fog up as soon as I put them on. In Iraq, with my head out the gunner's hatch of my HMMWV, they we OK, though. I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted them if I was doing a foot patrol, though.

I wouldn't wear them again knowing what I know now, though.

I probably mentioned it earlier in this thread, but the fucking lenses of mine shattered in my assault pack after getting rough handled. I can't imagine the ones they issued to me were actually ballistic lens.
