OCS, ABN, IOBC Letters from G&G
Rangers,
Staff duty tonight, I can use the internet for a brief minute. My tenative RS date is 7 Feb. I have three RIs in my company @ OCS so I am getting squared away. After RS I should go straight to ABN, as that is supposedly the new method to keep cherry lt's from getting fucked up on jumps and getting dropped. "They" talk too much in the Army.
Any suggestions for the best first duty assignment to find my way into a Bat after intial PL time?
Anyone know CSM Hu ******? We went on a Regimental run with the IOBC and ABN classes and despite a fucked up ankle he was smoking it. Some of our cadre fell out, couldn't hang.
OCS is a little ate up and we have a lot of sand baggers.. The cadre isn't the best the army has to offer and the PT is pussy. But there are some high points like learning my Oporders like the back of my hand and getting my operational stuff down.
I gotta go...
G&G out

If his last name rhymes with commodes, then I knew him. He was a squad leader in my platoon back in the 89-90 time frame. Everybody thought he was old back then. He was a good guy who took very good care of his squad. If memory serves me correctly, he hated running back then, but could still manage to smoke 'em.

Just phased into intermediate phase. I am going on a 4 day pass.
Then its back to OCS for FLX 2 and 3 which is about 11 days of some fieldcraft. I have crossed the major hump and so far as I don't do anything stupid there will be no problem with me getting that commission.
I have done time as a platoon leader, a squad leader, and a 240 MG team leader. I will be a PSG in the next FLX but the positions rotate at the drop of a hat. I wish we had more PT. We did a student test and I got over a 300: push ups 86, sit ups 102, run is at 12:11. I still feel like I can get much better and wish I had more time at the gym or we were doing harder PT.
Still studying my TTPs and FM 7-8. Want to do some more land nav to get ready for RS. We do 5 paragraph oporders like mofos here so my buddies and I should be able to pick up on the nuances of IOBC and RS oporders.
Now we are gaining privliges and treated less like dogshit. 3rd Bat did a fast rope and SPIES demonstration at the 4th celebration today and privates from sandhill kept calling me sir and asking my buddies and I questions, like we know anything.
Everything is going well and I am yet another phase closer on the road to following my dream. I have requested Ft Bragg and am trying to get into the 504th. Any gurus out there have any suggestions besides the IN branch manager? Maybe a good network or a friend who is or knows a G1 there?
Thanks again for the help, guidance, and moral support.
So that being said I must go inspect my squad before we go.

Thanks for the advice, just doing my best to get an ABN rifle platoon. Don't really want to go Mech and will fight for where I want to be. My 2nd choice is 101st. I wouldn't mind the 501st PIR, they are now with the 25th ID I believe.
Anyways, all is well IOC (Intermediate) phase is a bit easier and we are going to the field soon.
Just had an ingrown toenail removed, finally. That motherfucker hurts.
Got my ABN date locked down. 19 SEP 2005
Now I need to get my dates for RS and RSLC.

I just finished my last leadership field exercise, 12 days long and hot as hell in this godforsaken post :? . I have recieved all first time go's on my patrols and missions. I am sure it will be harder when I move out of the 11th Regt into the RTBs but a lot of us are getting practice and the prior service dudes especially the two from Eglin help us out with tactics and the proper Oporder format.
Today we are doing recovery and getting prepped for our senior status review and our BN CDR inspection. About to go over to 4th RTB to use the solvent tanks.
More to come later I am being hey you'ed
