"INVINCIBLE"

Thought this movie was really good. Most of it is spent building up to when he actually tries out and goes to training camp, but I really enjoyed it. The biggest negative for me is that the guy played for the Philadelphia Eagles. It's hard for me to root for anyone with that jersey on.

Old Grunt wrote:"Aliens" wouldn't have been made if "Alien" wasn't successful, and it was a remake of "It! The Terror from Beyond Space".

Predator lifted the script from "Without Warning" ( and Kevin Peter Hall played the "predator" in both).

James Cameron and Gale Ann Heard were sued by Harlan Ellison over "Terminator" (all current releases have "with a special acknowledgement to Harlan Ellison" in the credits now) for lifting too much of "Soldier" ( the old Outer Limits episode, not the Kurt Russell movie), and even Battlestar Galactica is a bit too close for comfort to Fred Saberhagens "Beserker" novels. Half the movies made last year were probably remakes of earlier films or did not give proper credit to the original authors. This goes back at least to The Maltese Falcon (which itself was a remake), and probably further.

Kurasawa's Rashomon has been redone so many times it isn't funny.

Ironically, while Leone, et al, were cheerfully ripping off Kurasawa, he was busy retelling Shakespeare as Samurai movies. "Throne of Blood", and "Ran' are Hamlet and Macbeth.

He isn't alone. 'Forbidden Planet" is a sci-fi remake of "The Tempest".
"Apocalypse Now" is, of course, Conrad's "Heart of Darkness".
And "Crocodile Dundee" is a thinly disguised "Tarzans New York Adventure".

At least Lucas acknowledged that "The Hidden Fortress" was his inspiration for "Star Wars".

Personally, I'm waiting for someone to do Zelazny's "Lord of Light" ( which was a retelling of Hesse's "Siddhartha").

He was Mahasamatman, the Lord of Light, Binder of Demons.
However, he preferred to drop the "maha" and the "atman" and called himself "Sam".
He never said he was a god.
But then he never said he wasn't, either.
And when you get right down to it, there's really been nothing new under the sun since the first Greek director yelled "action" about 3000 years ago. 8)

Saw Crank this weekend. Good action flick with some funny moments. The lead actor is the guy from Transporter (I liked the first one, second one...anh).

Don't know if it was mentioned earlier in the thread or not, but I saw 'The Sentinel' this weekend on DVD, very cool flick. (Keifer Sutherland/Michael Douglas/Eva Longoria)

Also watched 'A History of Violence' (with the guy from GI Jane/Lord of the Rings) Great fucking movie! Some nice throat punches!

X2
I don't remember the second one being nearly as creepy as the first.
Yeah the first one was better, as always. Three sounds good though!
