These are pictures of my old cocker-spaniel, Rusty. He came wandering down the street and into our yard while my parents were working on their garden. How anyone could have a puppy and just dump him to wander the streets is beyond me. Fucking assholes.
We named him Rusty, for obvious reasons. Such power of observation when you are five years old. Rusty ran up in our backyard, and I came out to see him. I got scared and ran like a bitch; naturally, the good natured dog thought I was playing and chased after me. So I kept running and crying like a bitch.
Rusty was a trooper and made it until I graduated high school. He died one day while I was on a two-week road trip with some high school friends the summer before we all started college. Selfishly, I had hoped he would make it until I went to college so that his death would be easier on me; I would be leaving him instead of him leaving me. As it is, I'll never forget my childhood companion.
RIP Rusty.
In the first picture, I am the hard-charger on the left, practicing my low-crawl. On the right, I am loudly proclaiming the superiority of my dog, challenging all neighboring pets within earshot. And yes, that is a Mario Brothers tank-top I'm wearing.
