VAK wrote:I just watched "Tom Horn" for the first time since I was a kid. Bought it as Steve McQueen's a bad motherfucker!

As a cool aside, when I was a kid still living in the land of Vee I knew the people who had Tom Horn's skull for an ashtray. I won't ruin the true story for those who have not seen it but way back when, the Cattlemen's Association in the Land of Vee was a bit powerfull. And Mr. Horn was as fucking tough as they came. Rode with Roosevelt's Rough Rider's and did his share of Frontier Enforcement-putting an emphasis on enforcing...

Anyway, great show just like all of Ol' Steve's movies. (Sam Elliot, Steve McQueen, Selleck, Eastwood and his Holiness John Wayne) just don't make enough of those type movies anymore. Too many 'colin farrel nutsack movies'
VAK, you're dead on with your opinion about the cowboy actors and everything else you said in this except one thing. The "Land of Vee"? Detroit? That shit happened in the Land of Lawdog. Vee wouldn't know what side of a horse to get on or which way to face. It has to have more horsepower and travel about 160 mph for Vee to get one it. He knows how to ride those things. Vee on a real horse, fuck I'd love to see that.
There was an old movie made around the same time as Tom Horn about the War on the Powder River, aka the Johnson County War. They did a recent re-make with Burt Reynolds, Tom Beringer, and that assclown that played Lane Frost in "8 Seconds" but it is so factually fucked up like most of Hollywood. The original was good though but I can't think of the name of it. Just found the name of it on Google.com, "Heaven's Gate". Check it out if you get a chance. Disclaimer: I was real young the last time I saw it.
Edit: I found this too. Evidently the critics nor the public liked it then. http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedi ... 28movie%29

The best movies I've seen lately would be Wedding Crashers, the 40 Year Old Virgin (hilarious,) Sin City, and Batman. Yeah, I know the last two are a bit older, but they're still awesome. The Skeleton Key was terrible, and I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it through the sneak preview.

I'd recommend skipping Red Eye too. Which is a shame...

I've been a big fan of Irish actor Cillian Murphy for awhile now :?

Ravenous (1999)http://www.foxmovies.com/ravenous/index2.html is an older movie, but one you don't want to miss. Plenty of violence and eating of flesh :P I am ordering the DVD to add to my collection.

I saw Crash on DVD last night. Very interesting and honest movie about peoples perceptions of each other regarding race and class, in our society.

Ranger Bugsy- I saw Crash last night too. I loved it...my friend and I sat there through the entire credits, just saying "Woah. That was good."

Would you say it is worth watching? The previews seemed pretty good.

I know this movie is really old but I just saw Pearl Harbor yesterday. Pretty good effects for the bombing scene....

... although I don't like how they were tossing those 50 cals around like they were weightless. Especially the part as they were taking weight off the B-52s on the carrier. The one guy pulls the 50 cal out of the side of the plane, hands it down to the pilot on the deck and he tosses it on a pile of stuff and it bounces!

Wedding Crashers is hilarious...it's been a long time since I went to the movies and didn't feel ripped off. I may even go see it again. :D

I liked the movie, although I think the title was misleading. I saw it as a love story that happened to take place during Pearl Harbor...not the other way around.

Took the kids to go see Valiant this evening. It was a pretty cute flick... on the younger side for the 12 yr old, but even she was able to appreciate it. I enjoyed the limited "basic training" the pigeons were portrayed as having to experience...
