Re: Current LRS units
Hey if you are looking for an LRS unit on the Guard/ reserve side try C. Troop 158 Cav 58th BCT MD army national guard. Do not let the unit designation drive you off there are no 19 series just 11b and the support mos's. Theunit used to be E. co 629th MI, and before that 129th Inf det LRS. PM me for contact info.

Re: Current LRS units
In the interest of full disclosure, I have posted this same information at SOCNET. My goal is simply to help ensure that there is accurate information out there on the web for those who may go looking for it, and in the case of ArmyRanger.com, maybe correct what may be a less than professional impression made by others attempting to get the word out. I would be happy to post full contact information for the unit if the mods/admin deem it appropriate.
Maryland still has a National Guard LRS unit, C Trp. (LRS) 1-158 CAV (formerly E. Co. 629th MI). This unit is in the midst of transforming from a LRS-D to a LRS-C, and rumors of its' demise are incorrect. We are on jump status, and during our recent annual training we did 3 jumps (one in-flight rigged day Hollywood C-130, one day combat equipment CH-47, and one night combat equipment C-130). The teams are all 11B positions, and because the unit is effectively tripling in size there are a lot of open positions, especially for motivated E-4's and below.
The unit is actively sending people to available schools. There are people attending or slotted for Airborne, Jumpmaster, Pathfinder, Ranger, RSLC, and Sniper, as well as NCOES schools.
The unit is currently located at the Cascade, MD armory, but is moving to the Hagerstown, MD armory in the near future. Anyone with basic reconnaissance skills should be able to parlay that information into a contact number.
We had some pretty good press coverage of some of our recent training. If anyone comes across it, please do not be confused by the fact that we were mistakenly called cav scouts, as well as various other incorrect labels.
I am not the POC for this unit, but I can either answer questions I possess factual information about, or refer you to the proper person.
