I don't remember if it started in late Nov or early Dec, but without violating persec, our NCOIC was an Asian 2nd Batt vet who jumped into Grenada. I remember he was talking to us Rippies about an upcoming jump, and some dipshit referred to it as a 'combat jump.' He said something to the effect that it is a 'combat equipment' jump, and that we would know it was a combat jump when we saw green tracers heading skyward.

I remember thinking 'man, that's the shit!!' The joke's on us though...the tracers were red.

Yup, that's it. You must remember a Ranger, first name Con (Khan?) who spent his time in A co. He was in that class.

Guy I went through RIP with, Jones, had the pleasure of an Alpha welcome that Christmas Eve. I saw him a few days later in the RDF - head shaved (of course), with numerous cuts on his scalp that had been generously painted red with iodine and a twitchy sort of thousand yard stare. Not a good look for him. He told me he had been afforded the pleasure of low crawling the quad for a few hours after doing something stupid. (Opening his mouth, no doubt). Merry Christmas!
I was part of Jones' welcoming committee, and he told you the truth. He arrived with Strauel, Spear, and I think Dial.

Jones ended up getting DX'ed after an accidental discharge at Ft. Campbell a couple of years later. No one could prove conclusively that it was his weapon that discharged, but he was not a favorite of the PSG's and took the fall for it. It was too bad, he was a good dude.

Ranger K. was in my platoon with the rest of those muldoons and was a participant in the welcoming ceremonies with Jones and the others. Good Ranger.

Yup, good dude. I used to catch him in the parking lot from time to time and we would catch up. He had a rough start but got his head right after a while, seemed like. Did he go to school?

And was that a battalion deployment to Campbell? I remember an AD there, I think it was a LAW subcal round in an admin patrol base. Could that have been Jones?
