Ranger Kilted Heathen, here is my review of "Clockwork Orange"

One of the themes of Clockwork Orange is that people must be given the freedom to choose their own behavior. The government cannot cure crime. Removing a criminal’s free will to commit violent acts will result in a fascist state rather than a peaceful utopia. While rape, murder, assault and other violent behaviors are deplorable, they will always be present in a society that allows its citizens the freedom to behave in whatever manner they choose. There are many parallels between the society in “Clockwork Orangeâ€

Ranger Kilted Heathen,
I watched "Clockwork Orange" and thought it was a pretty good flick. As far as I could tell the main message was that people cannot be controlled in a society like ours without taking away freedom and basic human nature, and instead of trying to rehabilitate criminals we should just kill the fuckers.

Clockwork Orange:

Kubrick changed from the theme of the book I think. The book indicated an essentially violent society with the droogs being symptomatic.

The movie indicated the droogs as more of a cause of the violence and society being their victims.

The most telling part is the reprogramming and its consequence when the old droogs/new cops beat up their former leader. A knee jerk reaction on the part of society by "curing" Mr. MacDowell led to his being unable to defend himself. While he may or may not of deserved it, society essentially created another victim by making MacDowell abhor violence. It seems analagous to the UK taking away law abiding citizens' ability to bear arms (and most LEOS) they fall victim to those who don't play by the rules. Passivism in the face of overt violence will not discourage it.

Ranger Kilted Heathen, I have not seen "A Clockwork Orange" for many years.

I do however watch "A Clockwork Orgy" on occasion though. 8)

Has anyone else seen Ong-Bak yet? It's only in limited release so it may not be available everywhere but... if you get the chance...

...wow. Best fight scenes ever in a movie, hands down. None of that wire-fu crap, just pure mayhem. Tony Jaa (the main actor) is Bruce Lee and then some. I don't think I've ever had this much fun at the movies... it's worth the 8 bucks for sure!
