Just out of curiosity, before I just roll my eyes and leave, what it is you think you can offer to any branch of the service? It must be something extremely enlightening to have you making such a bold entrance into someone else's home with such a weak statement...
I'd consider thinking of all who have served, all who have done, all who are doing much more than you've dared yet dream before you post anything about leading anyone, anywhere.... All that said, good luck.

Ranger Sobersides,
Forgive me for not clarifying how I feel about the matter to a more in-depth perspective. I tried last year, as a senior in high school, to attain admission to West Point but came short of admission (I was found qualified but only made it onto the national waiting list). West Point was always my number one choice far above anything else because what I want to do is be an officer in the Army. However, since I didn't gain admission to West Point, I took the next offer which was the US Air Force Academy Prep School. My intent was to become a Special Tactics Officer part of USAF Combat Control. My reasoning for wanting to become a Ranger officer is not because I do not want to be in the Air Force, I am just saying I don't feel I want to stay in the Air Force. I intend to become an Army officer because for one thing I want to be a leader. Here at the USAF Prep School, I see Majors that are leading one NCO from their desk, I see Lieutenants that are teaching our dumbasses while they wait to get into flight school, etc. I do not want that in my future. I have always wanted to be more of the leader that gets down into with his men. And yes, I realize I haven't been in that type of situation before so how should I know anything about what it's like? I don't, but as of right now I know what I want to do.
Additionally, concerning what you stated Usaftacp, I have considered everything that everyone has done. You have no idea how much I kick myself in the ass all the time because friends I graduated high school with are probably deployed and I have 4 more years before anything. I have considered things that men have done in the past. I do not plan to be the next General Patton, but when I say that I intend to lead men, I say it because that is my full intent. What do I have to offer to any branch of service you ask me? The fact that it is one more American fighting for this nation. Many have served while I grew up, protecting my freedoms as I grew, so what is wrong with me saying that I am willing and planning to do the exact thing? Have a nice day and thank you for the welcome.
