Roger, Ranger Jim.

I am seeking out a 11b option 40 contract. Not currently speaking to a recruiter at the moment. I did talk to one a while back but instantly he tried getting me to sign up when I wasn't physically ready saying, "you'll get enough time to prepare in basic and Airborne. I figure I won't waste their time until I'm getting scores beyond the standards for Ranger. That way when I show up, I'll be physically prepared.

Rangers, just a little update:

New 5-mile time is 39:27

Still trying to figure out if i should speak to a recruiter now, or wait until my scores are better.

I would start talking to one soon. You are shaping up, but don't overdo it and injure yourself. Get the administrative requirements out of the way. This is a slow process. Never, never quit!

Roger, Ranger Jim, my only worry is that there will be a contract "too soon" before I am physically fit. I spoke to a recruiter and filled out all of my paper work within a week about 4-5 months ago or so, but he then found me a 11x option 40 right away somehow for a ship date less than 2 months off, and I wasn't physically prepared yet, so I had to decline. Needless to say he wasn't too "happy" to hear that I wanted to better prepare physically before shipping to basic. He then tried giving me the talk of "you will get enough time in Basic, AIT and Airborne".

Maybe i'll give myself another month to shape up even more before I talk to one again just to make sure I don't let another option 40 slip away.

Rangers, my PT scores are still improving.

Push-ups: 78
Sit ups: 91
Run: 14:06
Pull ups: 14

5 mile time: 38:12

Looking into speaking to a recruiter soon to get the ball rolling.

Not too sure if this will effect anything. But I read in the paper that they were cutting down the Armys size. Will this make it more difficult to enlist from now on? Just thinking the recruiters will try even more now to play "hardball", when trying trying to get a option 40 contract. Either way, not quiting!

Rangers, I apologize for the third back to back to back post, but i figured I'd ask my question on here rather than make a new topic.

I see that some mentees are getting Mentored by some of the Rangers on this forum. I was curious how this all works? I would be honored to be Mentored by one of you, especially as I am getting closer to signing an option 40 contract.

Ranger Jim, that's awesome to hear. I'm sure they earned that spot to be there graduating and then some.

That really motivates me hearing stuff like that. Going on a run now, never quitting!

Roger, Ranger Jim. A little less than half! Congrats to those men who made it. Even more motivation to get there. Thanks for sharing, Ranger Jim. I will let you know when I sign my option 40.

Rangers, just a little update. Completed my first ruck today. It was only 4 miles but finished it in 58:04 minutes. Not too sure what a good time for a 4 mile is. I added rucking once a week to my training plan to prepare. My ruck weighs 50lbs.

Still waiting for a 11x option 40 to pop up! Seen a few other mos's with option 40's but no 11x yet.
